五十嵐威暢美術館かぜのび　2026年度 企画展「平面から立体へ」

◎シルクスクリーンアルファベットA-Z ブルー（1981年制作 オリジナル）26点
◎折りアルファベット（1985年の図面を元に、2026年 新規制作）26点

1970年代から90年代、五十嵐はアクソノメトリック図法を用い、平面上に立体が存在するかのようなアルファベットや数字の作品を数多く発表しました。
本展では、オリジナルの平面作品に加え、新規制作した「折りアルファベット」の展示を通じて、デザインから彫刻へと表現の場を広げた五十嵐威暢の創作の軌跡をたどります。

「折り線はどこでもよく、どこから見てもいい」と語っていた五十嵐。
点・線・面によるグリッドで構成された文字が、折ることでどのように立体へと変化するのか。
「読む」と「見る」を行き来する表現をご覧ください。

2026 Exhibition: “From Two Dimensions to Three Dimensions”

◎ Silkscreen Alphabet A–Z (Blue) (1981, original works) — 26 pieces
◎ Folded Alphabet (Based on 1985 drawings, newly produced in 2026) — 26 pieces

From the 1970s through the 1990s, Igarashi created numerous alphabetic and numerical works using axonometric projection, in which forms appear to exist as three-dimensional objects on a two-dimensional plane.

This exhibition presents both the original two-dimensional works and newly produced “Folded Alphabet” pieces, tracing Igarashi’s artistic trajectory as he expanded his practice from design into sculpture.

Igarashi once said, “Fold lines can be anywhere, and the work can be viewed from any angle.”Simple alphabets structured by points, lines, and planes shift between being read and seen as form.
The exhibition consists of 26 works, from A to Z.
