This museum introduces the natural environment, history, and industry of Kushiro, as well as Ainu culture, in an easy-to-understand manner with about 4,100 specimens and materials, dioramas, and videos. The distinctive building of this museum was designed by Kiko Mozuna, an architect from Kushiro.

Mondays (Even if Monday is a national holiday, the museum is closed unless it is between April 1 and November 3, in which case the museum is closed the following weekday instead.)
National holidays between November 4 and March 31
The year-end and New Year’s holidays (December 29 – January 3)
Thursday in the third week of December (internal maintenance day)

Permanent exhibition room:
Adults and college students: ¥480
High school students: ¥250
Elementary and junior high school students: ¥110
Admission is free for the following people.
– 65+ living in Kushiro City or holding a Kushiro Stay Members Card
– Elementary and junior high school students in Kushiro City during the summer, winter, and spring vacations
– Holders of a physical disability certificate, a medical rehabilitation handbook, or a mental disability certificate upon presentation of their disability certificate/handbook, and one accompanying person per holder
