  • The Tokoro Research Laboratory is located in the town of Tokoro, Kitami, Hokkaido Prefecture. The facility is affiliated with the Faculty of Letters/Graduate School of Humanities and Sociology at the University of Tokyo.
  • For over fifty years, the nationally preeminent archaeological sites of the Tokoro region have continued to be used as a base for research and education focusing on the archaeology of north-east Asia.
  • At present, in addition to the development of these fields of study, the facility hosts curatorial training courses lead by the University of Tokyo’s Faculty of Letters, while also promoting community-based educational activities, such as public exhibitions and lectures.
